3D passwords

Therefore we present our idea, the 3D passwords which are more customizable and very interesting way of authentication. Now the passwords are based on the fact of Human memory. Generally simple passwords are set so as to quickly recall them. The human memory, in our scheme has to undergo the facts of Recognition, Recalling, Biometrics or Token based authentication. Once implemented and you log in to a secure site, the 3D password GUI opens up. This is an additional textual password which the user can simply put. Once he goes through the first authentication, a 3D virtual room will open on the screen. In our case, let’s say a virtual garage. Now in a day to day garage one will find all sorts of tools, equipments, etc.each of them having unique properties. The user will then interact with these properties accordingly. Each object in the 3D space, can be moved around in an (x,y,z) plane. That’s the moving attribute of each object. This property is common to all the objects in the space. Suppose a user logs in and enters the garage. He sees and picks a screw-driver (initial position in xyz coordinates (5, 5, 5)) and moves it 5 places to his right (in XY plane i.e. (10, 5, 5).That can be identified as an authentication. Only the true user understands and recognizes the object which he has to choose among many. This is the Recall and Recognition part of human memory coming into play. Interestingly, a password can be set as approaching a radio and setting its frequency to number only the user knows. Security can be enhanced by the fact of including Cards and Biometric scanner as input. There can be levels of authentication a user can undergo.

Brain fingerprinting

BRAIN FINGERPRINTING

ABSTRACT
Every science involves skill, judgment, or "art" on the part of its practitioners and the science of Brain Fingerprinting testing is no exception. Every forensic science provides scientific data and scientific conclusions for the use of non-scientist judges and juries, who evaluate these on a common-sense and legal basis (i.e., a basis outside the realm of science) in reaching their conclusions regarding the facts and the law of the case.

Investigators' need for accurate, scientific means of linking perpetrators with crime scene evidence has inspired some scientists to ask, "What does the criminal always take with him from the crime scene that records his involvement in the crime?" The answer to this question, of course, is the Brain. The purpose of this document is to delineate the boundaries of the science of Brain Fingerprinting, and specify what falls inside and outside those boundaries.

ARTIFICIAL VISION

ABSTRACT

Blindness is more feared by the public than any other ailment. Artificial vision for the blind was once the stuff of science fiction. But now, a limited form of artificial vision is a reality .Now we are at the beginning of the end of blindness with this type of technology. In an effort to illuminate the perpetually dark world of the blind, researchers are turning to technology. They are investigating several electronic-based strategies designed to bypass various defects or missing links along the brain's image processing pathway and provide some form of artificial sight.
This paper is about curing blindness. Linking electronics and biotechnology, the scientists has made the commitment to the development of technology that will provide or restore vision for the visually impaired around the world. This paper describes the development of artificial vision system, which cures blindness to some extent. This paper explains the process involved in it and explains the concepts of artificial silicon retina, cortical implants etc. The roadblocks that are created are also elucidated clearly. Finally the advancements made in this system and scope of this in the future is also presented clearly

DNA computing paper presentations

DNA computing

Abstract-

As modern encryption algorithms are broken, the world of information security looks in new directions to protect the data it transmits. The concept of using DNA computing in the fields of cryptography and steganography has been identified as a possible technology that may bring forward a new hope for unbreakable algorithms. Is the fledgling field of DNA computing the next cornerstone in the world of information security or is our time better spent following other paths for our data encryption algorithms of the future? This paper will outline some of the basics of DNA and DNA computing and its use in the areas of cryptography, steganography and authentication.

Research has been performed in both cryptographic and steganographic situations with respect to DNA computing. The constraints of its high tech lab requirements and computational limitations combined with the labour intensive extrapolation means, illustrate that the field of DNA computing is far from any kind of efficient use in today’s security world. DNA authentication on the other hand, has exhibited great promise with real world examples already surfacing on the marketplace today.

HONEYPOTS FOR NETWORK SECURITY

Abstract:

For every consumer and business that is on the Internet, viruses, worms and crackers are a few security threats. There are the obvious tools that aid information security professionals against these problems such as anti-virus software, firewalls and intrusion detection systems, but these systems can only react to or prevent attacks-they cannot give us information about the attacker, the tools used or even the methods employed. Given all of these security questions, honeypots are a novel approach to network security and security research alike.

A honeypot is used in the area of computer and Internet security. It is a resource, which is intended to be attacked and compromised to gain more information about the attacker and the used tools. It can also be deployed to attract and divert an attacker from their real targets. Compared to an intrusion detection system, honeypots have the big advantage that they do not generate false alerts as each observed traffic is suspicious, because no productive components are running on the system. This fact enables the system to log every byte that flows through the network to and from the honeypot, and to correlate this data with other sources to draw a picture of an attack and the attacker.

This paper will first give an introduction to honeypots-the types and uses. We will then look at the nuts and bolts of honeypots and how to put them together. Finally we shall conclude by looking at what the future holds for the honeypots and honey nets.

DIGITAL JEWELLERY MADE POSSIBLE USING WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS

Mobile computing ppt (paper presentation applications)
ABSTRACT

Mobile computing is beginning to break the chains that tie us to our desks, but many of today's mobile devices can still be a bit awkward to carry around. In the next age of computing, there will be an explosion of computer parts across our bodies, rather than across our desktops. Basically, jewellery adorns the body, and has very little practical purpose. The combination of microcomputer devices and increasing computer power has allowed several companies to begin producing fashion jewellery with embedded intelligence i.e., Digital jewelry. Digital jewellery can best be defined as wireless, wearable computers that allow you to communicate by ways of e-mail, voicemail, and voice communication. This paper enlightens on how various computerized jewelry (like ear-rings, necklace, ring, bracelet, etc.,) will work with mobile embedded intelligence.

Even the devices we use are protected by passwords. It can be frustrating trying to keep with all of the passwords and keys needed to access any door or computer program. This paper discusses about a new Java-based, computerized ring that will automatically unlock doors and log on to computers.

MOBILE COMPUTING ; NETWORK SECURITY PPT
ABSTRACT:-

The Internet has become an integral part of human society and business, and its full potential is as yet untapped. Internet related crimes are rapidly on the increase, with numerous cases of people illegally accessing private networks. The vulnerability of such networks was underlined when a group of hackers going by the name "Milworm" gained access to the B.A.R.C servers sometime ago. These threats pose an unprecedented challenge to lawmakers and enforcers. Likewise this throws open a new arena of challenge for Network engineers and designers. A sophisticated array of security measures is being used to keep the hackers at bay.

HAPTICS technology

PAPER PRESENTATION: HAPTIC TECHNOLOGY

ABSTRACT

“HAPTICS”-- a technology that adds the sense of touch to virtual environment .Haptic interfaces allow the user to feel as well as to see virtual objects on a computer, and so we can give an illusion of touching surfaces, shaping virtual clay or moving objects around.
The sensation of touch is the brain’s most effective learning mechanism --more effective than seeing or hearing—which is why the new technology holds so much promise as a teaching tool.
Haptic technology is like exploring the virtual world with a stick. If you push the stick into a virtual balloon push back .The computer communicates sensations through a haptic interface –a stick, scalpel, racket or pen that is connected to a force-exerting motors.
With this technology we can now sit down at a computer terminal and touch objects that exist only in the "mind" of the computer.By using special input/output devices (joysticks, data gloves, or other devices), users can receive feedback from computer applications in the form of felt sensations in the hand or other parts of the body. In combination with a visual display, haptics technology can be used to train people for tasks requiring hand-eye coordination, such as surgery and space ship maneuvers.
In this paper we explicate how sensors and actuators are used for tracking the position and movement of the haptic device moved by the operator. We mention the different types of force rendering algorithms. Then, we move on to a few applications of Haptic Technology. Finally we conclude by mentioning a few future developments.

Holographic memory

PAPER PRESENTATIONS: HOLOGRAPHIC MEMORY
INTRODUCTION

With its omnipresent computer all connected via internet information age has lead an explosion of information available to users. With the decreasing cost of storing data and increasing storage capacity with a same small device foot print have been key enablers of this revolution. While the current storage need are being met the storage technologies must continue in order to keep pace with a rapidly increasing demand.

However both magnetic and conventional optical data storage technologies, where individual bits are stored as distinct magnetic or optical changes in the surface of recording medium, are approaching physical limits beyond which individual bits are too small or too difficult to store. Storing information through the volume of the medium not on its surface offers an intriguing high capacity alternative. Holographic data storage is a volumetric approach, which has made recent progress towards practicality with the appearance of lower cost enabling technologies.
Hence the holographic memory has become a great white whale of technology research.

Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) Attacks

Paper presentations: DDoS

ABSTRACT:

Distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) is an increasingly worrying threat to availability of Internet resources.DDoS Attacks have recently emerged as one of the most newsworthy, if not the greatest weaknesses of the Internet. The variety and number of both attacks and defense approaches are overwhelming.

This paper attempts to explain how they work, why they are hard to combat today what will need to happen if they are to be broughtundercontrol..This paper introduces DDoS in the current scenario and often represents adetailed description of exactly how this attack works and why is it hard to cope with today. It discusses various defense principles and challenges encountered. In the later sections the modus operandi of the attacks and its classification is explained .Finally research issues in DDoS are highlighted and in the long term picture , an integrated approach to the DDoS problem is proposed that will bring this class old problem under control , if not eliminate it entirely.
Thus a better understanding of the problem, current solution space and future scope are provided.

INTRODUCTION:

Image Processing is processing of the image so as to reveal the inner details of the image for further investigation. With the advent of digital computers, Digital Image Processing has started revolutionizing the world with its diverse applications. The field of Image Processing continues, as it has since the early 1970’s, on a path of dynamic growth in terms of popular and scientific interest and number of commercial applications. Considering the advances in the last 30 years resulting in routine application of image processing to problems in medicine, entertainment, law enforcement, and many others.

The discipline of Digital Image Processing covers a vast area of scientific and engineering knowledge. Modern digital technology has made it possible to manipulate multi-dimensional signals with systems that range from simple digital circuits to advanced parallel computers. It’s built on a foundation of one- and two-dimensional signal processing theory and overlaps with such disciplines as Artificial Intelligence (Scene understanding), information theory (image coding), statistical pattern recognition (image classification), communication theory (image coding and transmission), and microelectronics (image sensors, image processing hardware).

Image processing has revolutionized in various fields. Examples include mapping internal organs in medicine using various scanning technologies (image reconstruction from projections), automatic fingerprint recognition (pattern recognition and image coding) and HDTV (video coding).

Digital signal processing and image processing

DIGITAL SIGNAL AND IMAGE PROCESSING

INTRODUCTION TO SIGNALS AND SYSTEMS

SIGNAL: -
A signal is defined as any physical quantity that varies with time, space or any other independent variable or variables. It may be a function of one or more independent variables. The signal itself carries some kind of information available for observation.
Usually signals are classified into two typesSignals

Analog signals Discrete signals
(Continuous signals) ( Dis –continuous signals)
ANALOG SIGNALS: - The analog signals are continuous function of an independent variable such as time, space etc.

DISCRETE SIGNALS: -
A discrete signal is a function of a discrete independent variable, which is an integer. A digital signal is same as discrete signal except that the magnitude of the signal is quantized.

Paper presentation: Image processing

Digital Image Processing

ABSTRACT:

Night Vision scopes and binoculars are electro-optical devices that intensify (or amplify) existing light instead of relying on light source of their own. The devices are sensitive to a broad spectrum of light, from visible through infrared. An accessory illuminator can increase the light available at the infrared end of the spectrum by casting a beam of light that is not visible to the human eye.An infrared night vision system senses heat radiated by things and produces a video picture of the heat scene. The gadget that senses the
heat is a photocathode, similar to the one in a video camera, except it is sensitive to infrared radiation instead of visible light. There are two methods of operating night vision systems, being either in a 'passive' mode or an 'active' mode. Passive systems amplify the existing environmental ambient lighting, while active systems rely on an infrared light source to provide ufficient illumination. Active systems are often used today on many consumer devices such as home video

Internet Firewall

Paper presentation on "INTERNET FIREWALLS"
INTRODUCTION :

The Internet has made large amount of information available to the average computer user at home, in business and education. For many people, having access to this information is no longer just an advantage, it is essential.

By connecting a private network to the Internet can expose critical or confidential data to malicious attack from anywhere in the world. The intruders could gain access to your sites private information or interfere with your use of your own systems. Users who connect their computers to the Internet must be aware of these dangers, their implications and how to protect their data and their critical systems.

Therefore, security of network is the main criteria here and firewalls provide this security. The Internet firewalls keep the flames of Internet hell out of your network or, to keep the members of your LAN pure by denying them access the all the evil Internet temptations.

NETWORK SECURITY THROUGH PALLADIUM

ABSTRACT

In today’s world, the importance of information cannot be overemphasized. All the services and systems of various organizations and institutions, both government and private, depend on the information fed to them. Information has attained the same or perhaps even greater significance than that of any other tangible object that is of any practical consequence. All this makes it imperative for individuals and organizations alike to safeguard their data and avoid its misuse, destruction, duplication or distribution by unauthorized people, especially after witnessing the havoc that can be unleashed by such attacks.

Since the inception of conglomeration of Computers with Networks, the consequence of which shrunk the communication world, hitherto unknown, umpteen ilks of security breaches took their origin. Tersely quoting some security ditherers – Eavesdropping, Hacking, Hijacking, Mapping, Packet Sniffing, 1Spoofing, DoS & DDoS attacks, etc.

(Biologically Inspired Intelligent Robots Using Artificial Muscles)
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Abstract:
Artificial Intelligence is a branch of Science which deals with helping machines finds solutions to complex problems in a more human-like fashion. This generally involves borrowing characteristics from human intelligence, and applying them as algorithms in a computer friendly way. A more or less flexible or efficient approach can be taken depending on the requirements established, which influences how artificial the intelligent behavior appears.
Humans throughout history have always sought to mimic the appearance, mobility, functionality, intelligent operation, and thinking process of biological creatures. This field of biologically inspired technology, having the moniker biometrics, has evolved from making static copies of human and animals in the form of statues to the emergence of robots that operate with realistic appearance and behavior. This paper covers the current state-of-the-art and challenges to making biometric robots using artificial muscles.

Artificial Intelligence: Learning Computers

Abstract

The term artificial intelligence is used to describe a property of machines or programs: the intelligence that the system demonstrates. Among the traits that researchers hope machines will exhibit are reasoning, knowledge, planning, learning, communication, perception and the ability to move and manipulate objects. Constructing robots that perform intelligent tasks has always been a highly motivating factor for the science and technology of information processing. Unlike philosophy and psychology, which are also concerned with intelligence, AI strives to build intelligent entities such as robots as well as understand them. Although no one can predict the future in detail, it is clear that computers with human-level intelligence (or better) would have a huge impact on our everyday lives and on the future course of civilization Neural Networks have been proposed as an alternative to Symbolic Artificial Intelligence in constructing intelligent systems. They are motivated by computation in the brain. Small Threshold computing elements when put together produce powerful information processing machines. In this paper, we put forth the foundational ideas in artificial intelligence and important concepts in Search Techniques, Knowledge Representation, Language Understanding, Machine Learning, Neural Computing and such other disciplines.
