Brain fingerprinting

BRAIN FINGERPRINTING

ABSTRACT
Every science involves skill, judgment, or "art" on the part of its practitioners and the science of Brain Fingerprinting testing is no exception. Every forensic science provides scientific data and scientific conclusions for the use of non-scientist judges and juries, who evaluate these on a common-sense and legal basis (i.e., a basis outside the realm of science) in reaching their conclusions regarding the facts and the law of the case.

Investigators' need for accurate, scientific means of linking perpetrators with crime scene evidence has inspired some scientists to ask, "What does the criminal always take with him from the crime scene that records his involvement in the crime?" The answer to this question, of course, is the Brain. The purpose of this document is to delineate the boundaries of the science of Brain Fingerprinting, and specify what falls inside and outside those boundaries.

Paper presentation: Artificial Vision

ARTIFICIAL VISION

ABSTRACT

Blindness is more feared by the public than any other ailment. Artificial vision for the blind was once the stuff of science fiction. But now, a limited form of artificial vision is a reality .Now we are at the beginning of the end of blindness with this type of technology. In an effort to illuminate the perpetually dark world of the blind, researchers are turning to technology. They are investigating several electronic-based strategies designed to bypass various defects or missing links along the brain's image processing pathway and provide some form of artificial sight.
This paper is about curing blindness. Linking electronics and biotechnology, the scientists has made the commitment to the development of technology that will provide or restore vision for the visually impaired around the world. This paper describes the development of artificial vision system, which cures blindness to some extent. This paper explains the process involved in it and explains the concepts of artificial silicon retina, cortical implants etc. The roadblocks that are created are also elucidated clearly. Finally the advancements made in this system and scope of this in the future is also presented clearly

GPRS DRIVING WAP ON THE ROAD TO 3G

ABSRTACT
Mobile telephony allowed us to talk on the move. The Internet turned raw data into helpful services that people found easy to use. Now, these two technologies are converging to create third generation mobile services. In simple terms, third generation (3G) services combine high-speed mobile access with Internet Protocol (IP)-based services. But this doesn’t just mean fast mobile connection to the world wide web. Rather, it means whole new ways to communicate, access information, conduct business, learn, and be entertained -- liberated from slow, cumbersome equipment and immovable points of access. Mobile computing is being heralded as the new “killer app” for the Internet.
While 3G hasn’t arrived yet 2.5G is here! The technologies at the forefront of 2.5G push are GPRS (General Packet Radio Service), EDGE (Enhanced Data rates for Global Evolution.), WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access), and WAP (Wireless Application Protocol).

On the road to 3G, we shall have an insight into the blossoming of 3G from 2G, the technologies involved, & their areas of application.. GRPS and WAP are definite stepping-stones on 3G wireless networks. Separately their improvements are useful upgrades and together they are a significant departure from 2G systems. A gradual transition and user acceptance for 3G could be a reality.

DIGITAL JEWELLERY MADE POSSIBLE USING WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS

Mobile computing ppt (paper presentation applications)
ABSTRACT

Mobile computing is beginning to break the chains that tie us to our desks, but many of today's mobile devices can still be a bit awkward to carry around. In the next age of computing, there will be an explosion of computer parts across our bodies, rather than across our desktops. Basically, jewellery adorns the body, and has very little practical purpose. The combination of microcomputer devices and increasing computer power has allowed several companies to begin producing fashion jewellery with embedded intelligence i.e., Digital jewelry. Digital jewellery can best be defined as wireless, wearable computers that allow you to communicate by ways of e-mail, voicemail, and voice communication. This paper enlightens on how various computerized jewelry (like ear-rings, necklace, ring, bracelet, etc.,) will work with mobile embedded intelligence.

Even the devices we use are protected by passwords. It can be frustrating trying to keep with all of the passwords and keys needed to access any door or computer program. This paper discusses about a new Java-based, computerized ring that will automatically unlock doors and log on to computers.

MOBILE COMPUTING ; NETWORK SECURITY PPT
ABSTRACT:-

The Internet has become an integral part of human society and business, and its full potential is as yet untapped. Internet related crimes are rapidly on the increase, with numerous cases of people illegally accessing private networks. The vulnerability of such networks was underlined when a group of hackers going by the name "Milworm" gained access to the B.A.R.C servers sometime ago. These threats pose an unprecedented challenge to lawmakers and enforcers. Likewise this throws open a new arena of challenge for Network engineers and designers. A sophisticated array of security measures is being used to keep the hackers at bay.

Ppt on speech coding using wavelets

Speech Compression Using Wavelets

ABSTRACT

Speech compression is the technology of converting human speech into an efficiently encoded representation that can later be decoded to produce a close approximation of the original signal. The wavelet transform of a signal decomposes the original signal into wavelets coefficients at different scales and positions. These coefficients represent the signal in the wavelet domain and all data operations can be performed using just the corresponding wavelet coefficients. The major issues concerning the design of this Wavelet based speech coder are choosing optimal wavelets for speech signals, decomposition level in the DWT, thresholding criteria for coefficient truncation and efficient encoding of truncated coefficients. The performance of the wavelet compression scheme on both male and female spoken sentences is compared. On a male spoken sentence the scheme reaches a signal-to-noise ratio of 17.45 db and a compression ratio of 3.88, using a level dependent thresholding approach.

MULTIMEDIA MESSAGING SERVICES

ABSTRACT

Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) adds images, text, audio clips and ultimately, video clips to SMS (Short Message Service / text messaging). Simon Buckingham, CEO of Mobile Streams believes that: 'The transition from Short Message Service (SMS) to Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) is as important on mobile phones as the transition from DOS to Windows was for the PC. It represents a revolution.' Unlike other technologies like WAP, Bluetooth etc - MMS offers a complete development and billing environment along with a chance to create compelling applications. Thus, MMS provides an opportunity to foster an industry where all players in the value chain may get an opportunity to earn revenue.

Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) is a messaging service for the mobile environment that has been standardised by the WAP forum and 3GPP. To the end user, MMS is very similar to the short message service: it provides automatic and immediate delivery of user-created content. The addressing used is the phone-number of the recipient and the bulk of the MMS traffic goes from phone to phone. MMS also provides support for e-mail addressing. Hence, messages can also be sent from phone to e-mail and back. In addition to content type used for SMS text , MMS messages can contain still Images, voice or audio clip, and presentation information. A multimedia message is a multimedia presentation created by the sender using, for example predefined templates alternatively the content can be obtained ready made from a third-party content provider. The message can be delivered using to a push to the recipient’s phone and the recipient is notified only after the whole message has been received. MMS transport is carried out using WAP protocols and any bearer capable of supporting WAP can be used. Therefore MMS is bearer independent, i.e, MMS is not only limited to only GSM or WCDMA. the wireless session protocol(WSP) specified in the WAP forum, is used for message transport from phone to MMSC and from MMSC to phone. in addition WAP push features are used to deliver the message from the serverto the recipient. MMS uses WAP protocols, but is a separatephone application, independent from the browser. As the MMS concept is built upon SMS the target of service is to bring a new facility to the mass market of MMS users.

This paper gives the details about the need for mobile communication and its development in various generations. In addition, the details about the working of 4G mobile communication were given. Finally, it narrates how 4G mobile communication will bring a new level of connectivity and convenience in communication.

Mobile fraud detection: paper presentation

MOBILE FRAUD DETECTION

Abstract

This paper discusses the status of research on detection of fraud undertaken in mobile system.
A first task has been the identification of possible fraud scenarios and of typical fraud indicators, which can be mapped to data in toll tickets. Currently, this project is exploring the detection of fraudulent behaviour based on a combination of absolute and differential usage. Three approaches are being investigated: a rule-based approach, and two approaches based on neural networks, where both supervised and unsupervised learning are considered. Special attention is being paid to the feasibility of the implementations.

Digital signal processing and image processing

DIGITAL SIGNAL AND IMAGE PROCESSING

INTRODUCTION TO SIGNALS AND SYSTEMS

SIGNAL: -
A signal is defined as any physical quantity that varies with time, space or any other independent variable or variables. It may be a function of one or more independent variables. The signal itself carries some kind of information available for observation.
Usually signals are classified into two typesSignals

Analog signals Discrete signals
(Continuous signals) ( Dis –continuous signals)
ANALOG SIGNALS: - The analog signals are continuous function of an independent variable such as time, space etc.

DISCRETE SIGNALS: -
A discrete signal is a function of a discrete independent variable, which is an integer. A digital signal is same as discrete signal except that the magnitude of the signal is quantized.

Digital Image Processing

ABSTRACT:

Night Vision scopes and binoculars are electro-optical devices that intensify (or amplify) existing light instead of relying on light source of their own. The devices are sensitive to a broad spectrum of light, from visible through infrared. An accessory illuminator can increase the light available at the infrared end of the spectrum by casting a beam of light that is not visible to the human eye.An infrared night vision system senses heat radiated by things and produces a video picture of the heat scene. The gadget that senses the
heat is a photocathode, similar to the one in a video camera, except it is sensitive to infrared radiation instead of visible light. There are two methods of operating night vision systems, being either in a 'passive' mode or an 'active' mode. Passive systems amplify the existing environmental ambient lighting, while active systems rely on an infrared light source to provide ufficient illumination. Active systems are often used today on many consumer devices such as home video

(Biologically Inspired Intelligent Robots Using Artificial Muscles)
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Abstract:
Artificial Intelligence is a branch of Science which deals with helping machines finds solutions to complex problems in a more human-like fashion. This generally involves borrowing characteristics from human intelligence, and applying them as algorithms in a computer friendly way. A more or less flexible or efficient approach can be taken depending on the requirements established, which influences how artificial the intelligent behavior appears.
Humans throughout history have always sought to mimic the appearance, mobility, functionality, intelligent operation, and thinking process of biological creatures. This field of biologically inspired technology, having the moniker biometrics, has evolved from making static copies of human and animals in the form of statues to the emergence of robots that operate with realistic appearance and behavior. This paper covers the current state-of-the-art and challenges to making biometric robots using artificial muscles.

Artificial Intelligence: Learning Computers

Abstract

The term artificial intelligence is used to describe a property of machines or programs: the intelligence that the system demonstrates. Among the traits that researchers hope machines will exhibit are reasoning, knowledge, planning, learning, communication, perception and the ability to move and manipulate objects. Constructing robots that perform intelligent tasks has always been a highly motivating factor for the science and technology of information processing. Unlike philosophy and psychology, which are also concerned with intelligence, AI strives to build intelligent entities such as robots as well as understand them. Although no one can predict the future in detail, it is clear that computers with human-level intelligence (or better) would have a huge impact on our everyday lives and on the future course of civilization Neural Networks have been proposed as an alternative to Symbolic Artificial Intelligence in constructing intelligent systems. They are motivated by computation in the brain. Small Threshold computing elements when put together produce powerful information processing machines. In this paper, we put forth the foundational ideas in artificial intelligence and important concepts in Search Techniques, Knowledge Representation, Language Understanding, Machine Learning, Neural Computing and such other disciplines.
