DIGITAL JEWELLERY MADE POSSIBLE USING WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS

Mobile computing ppt (paper presentation applications)
ABSTRACT

Mobile computing is beginning to break the chains that tie us to our desks, but many of today's mobile devices can still be a bit awkward to carry around. In the next age of computing, there will be an explosion of computer parts across our bodies, rather than across our desktops. Basically, jewellery adorns the body, and has very little practical purpose. The combination of microcomputer devices and increasing computer power has allowed several companies to begin producing fashion jewellery with embedded intelligence i.e., Digital jewelry. Digital jewellery can best be defined as wireless, wearable computers that allow you to communicate by ways of e-mail, voicemail, and voice communication. This paper enlightens on how various computerized jewelry (like ear-rings, necklace, ring, bracelet, etc.,) will work with mobile embedded intelligence.

Even the devices we use are protected by passwords. It can be frustrating trying to keep with all of the passwords and keys needed to access any door or computer program. This paper discusses about a new Java-based, computerized ring that will automatically unlock doors and log on to computers.

MULTIMEDIA MESSAGING SERVICES

ABSTRACT

Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) adds images, text, audio clips and ultimately, video clips to SMS (Short Message Service / text messaging). Simon Buckingham, CEO of Mobile Streams believes that: 'The transition from Short Message Service (SMS) to Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) is as important on mobile phones as the transition from DOS to Windows was for the PC. It represents a revolution.' Unlike other technologies like WAP, Bluetooth etc - MMS offers a complete development and billing environment along with a chance to create compelling applications. Thus, MMS provides an opportunity to foster an industry where all players in the value chain may get an opportunity to earn revenue.

Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) is a messaging service for the mobile environment that has been standardised by the WAP forum and 3GPP. To the end user, MMS is very similar to the short message service: it provides automatic and immediate delivery of user-created content. The addressing used is the phone-number of the recipient and the bulk of the MMS traffic goes from phone to phone. MMS also provides support for e-mail addressing. Hence, messages can also be sent from phone to e-mail and back. In addition to content type used for SMS text , MMS messages can contain still Images, voice or audio clip, and presentation information. A multimedia message is a multimedia presentation created by the sender using, for example predefined templates alternatively the content can be obtained ready made from a third-party content provider. The message can be delivered using to a push to the recipient’s phone and the recipient is notified only after the whole message has been received. MMS transport is carried out using WAP protocols and any bearer capable of supporting WAP can be used. Therefore MMS is bearer independent, i.e, MMS is not only limited to only GSM or WCDMA. the wireless session protocol(WSP) specified in the WAP forum, is used for message transport from phone to MMSC and from MMSC to phone. in addition WAP push features are used to deliver the message from the serverto the recipient. MMS uses WAP protocols, but is a separatephone application, independent from the browser. As the MMS concept is built upon SMS the target of service is to bring a new facility to the mass market of MMS users.

4G – MOBILE COMMUNICATION

ABSTRACT

With the rapid development of communication networks, it is expected that fourth generation mobile systems will be launched within decades. Fourth generation (4G) mobile systems focus on seamlessly integrating the existing wireless technologies including GSM, wireless LAN, and Bluetooth. This contrasts with third generation (3G), which merely focuses on developing new standards and hardware. 4G systems will support comprehensive and personalized services providing stable system performance and quality service. This paper gives the details about the need for mobile communication and its development in various generations. In addition, the details about the working of 4G mobile communication were given. Finally, it narrates how 4G mobile communication will bring a new level of connectivity and convenience in communication.

Mobile fraud detection: paper presentation

MOBILE FRAUD DETECTION

Abstract

This paper discusses the status of research on detection of fraud undertaken in mobile system.
A first task has been the identification of possible fraud scenarios and of typical fraud indicators, which can be mapped to data in toll tickets. Currently, this project is exploring the detection of fraudulent behaviour based on a combination of absolute and differential usage. Three approaches are being investigated: a rule-based approach, and two approaches based on neural networks, where both supervised and unsupervised learning are considered. Special attention is being paid to the feasibility of the implementations.

Paper presentation on CDMA

This is a sample of the main paper: Code Division Spread Spectrum is one form of CDMA communication technique optimized for the cost conscious, high volume and short cycle consumer electronics market. Its primary application is in digital cordless telephony today. Meanwhile, it is being applied to wireless devices for the last 100-meter connection to the Internet, and in the wireless local loop to provide sub-$20 handset cost, tariff free mobile voice services in some third world countries.
Why is CD/SS technology suitable for consumer electronics? And how does it compare to other long-range
wireless transmission techniques such as DSS, DECT and Wide band CDMA? The next 10 slides will
introduce the history, theory and practice, and highlight some technical areas for comparison.

CDMA technology: Paper presentation

Sample of the main paper: There has been a tremendous growth in wireless communication technology over the past decade. The significant increase in subscribers and traffic, new bandwidth consuming applications such as gaming, music down loading and video streaming will place new demands on capacity. The answer to the capacity demand is the provision of new spectrum and the development of a new technology – Wideband CDMA. WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) is by far the most widely adopted 3G air-interface technology in the new IMT- 2000 frequency bands. Standardized by 3GPP and ITU, WCDMA has gained broad acceptance within the wireless communication industry. WCDMA was designed to provide cost-efficient capacity for both modern mobile multimedia applications and traditional mobile voice services. One of the key benefits of the technology is efficient, flexible support for radio bearers, in which network capacity can be freely allocated between voice and data within the same carrier. WCDMA also supports both multiple simultaneous services and multimedia services comprising multiple components with different service quality requirements in terms of throughput, transfer delay, and bit error rate. In WCDMA, user data is spread over a bandwidth of circa 5 MHz. The
wide bandwidth supports high user data rates and also provides performance benefits due to frequency diversity. The wideband carrier is also cost-effective as more users can be served by means of a single transceiver.

SOS TRANSMISSION
Through Cellular phones to save Accident Victims
-Boon for the cellular phone users
(MOBILE COMMUNICATION)
Abstract:
This paper describes an ORIGINAL IDEA to help cellular phone users caught in an accident. The idea has been developed keeping in mind the considerations of cost and compatibility with existing system. The Short Message Service or SMS as it is popularly referred to, is made use of for this purpose.

The solution offered is the Force-Transducer method. The victim is assumed to be unconscious and the accident is detected automatically. Detailed simulation results at a scaled down level are provided for this solution. The threshold level is set based on data collected from the experiments.

One major problem in such design is the technique to find the victim’s position. The Global Positioning System (GPS) is found to be costly. So, an unorthodox design using Radio Direction Finders (RDF) and beacon signals is described. The Goniometer or Crossed Loop Antenna is used for this purpose. This reduces cost effectively when compared with the GPS system.

The paper proceeds to suggest an abstract view of the software robot required to perform the Save Our Souls (SOS) message routing task. It uses a special hierarchical message dispatch system wherein people nearby and more likely to help are contacted. The robot also acts as a proxy to the victim and monitors responses for him.

This paper as a whole gives a cost-effective, high performance system which can be introduced in the market if any of the cellular companies are willing to encourage it.

VOICE OVER INTERNET PROTOCOL

INTRODUCTION

VoIP (voice over IP - that is, voice delivered using the Internet Protocol) is a term used in IP telephony for a set of facilities for managing the delivery of voice information using the Internet Protocol (IP). In general, this means sending voice information in digital form in discrete packets rather than in the traditional circuit-committed protocols of the public switched telephone network (PSTN). A major advantage of VoIP and Internet telephony is that it avoids the tolls charged by ordinary telephone service VoIP is therefore telephony using a packet based network instead of the PSTN (circuit switched).

During the early 90's the Internet was beginning its commercial spread. The Internet Protocol (IP), part of the TCP/IP suite (developed by the U.S. Department of Defense to link dissimilar computers across many kinds of data networks) seemed to have the necessary qualities to become the successor of the PSTN
